June 29, 2016 Hey Family!

We had a great week this last week. We decided as a district to refocus on supporting and strengthening our branch. We're really getting some great things going. Our Branch is starting up some activities where members and investigators can get to know each other a little bit better. We've met a ton of awesome new people to teach because we've been looking for less active members and we keep finding these amazingly prepared people. It seems like the Lord is just placing them into our path as we look for the lost sheep.

Getting those pictures from the football games made me think back to those super hot summer football days. That Red Army is ridiculous. Great Job in the tournament though! Cole, You're Awesome!

Today we had to go up to Wappinger Falls to get our car inspected so we got to hang out with my trainee Elder Mackintosh for a little bit while our car got inspected and serviced, he's serving in the Poughkeepsie Ward and translates for the Hispanic members every sacrament meeting. He's pretty awesome, I love my trainee.

Sorry for the short letter. I don't really know what else to say. I Love You! You're awesome! Have a Great Week!

June 22, 2016 Standard Week

Hey Family,

It was great to hear from you this week. Happy Father's Day Dad! I don't have a to to say this week, but on Thursday I got a super cool call from president telling me about that lady in Denmark. He had received a response to an email I sent him with that woman's contact info.  He was calling to say that the woman from Denmark has a baptismal date in July. I think my reaction almost broke his phone, I was so excited. Miracles happen in the mission field.

I'm sorry for the short email. Not a whole ton out of the normal day to day mission grind happened this week. I love you! Have a great week!

June 15, 2016 Crazy Week!

So since last Tuesday we have had some awesome spiritual experiences and some crazy surprises. On Wednesday our zone along with two others got to have a zone conference with Elder Bennett of the 70. He's super cool.  He served a mission in France and then served as a mission president in Russia. We learned so much about how to be better, consecrated missionaries.

During that meeting an emergency transfer happened in our zone so Elder Gallardo and I had another companion, Elder Gonzalez, for a few days until Saturday night when we got word that they were going to move the Spanish Elders that night from Norwalk Connecticut to be Elder Gonzalez's companions in the Yorktown ward. So it was an
interesting night figuring that out because the Elders that were moving also had a baptism that night. On Friday we had MLC with Elder Bennett, which was basically a review from the zone conferences. It was great seeing what everybody learned and how we can apply it to our work.

Our area is starting to see some great potential. We are finding super well and have a super awesome progressing investigator who has some weird problems that are delaying his baptism, but it'll come. We had an awesome miracle yesterday. We were driving down the road after a failed attempt to contact an investigator when we saw a man sitting in front of his house. We had the impression that he was sad about something and that we needed to go talk to him. After fighting off Satan for a second and finally choosing to follow he prompting we circled back, got out of the car and went to talk to him. We had a great contact focused on God being our loving Heavenly Father and when we asked him what we could pray about with him before we leave, he asked if we could pray for him because he's been depressed recently.

Have a great week! Thanks for the notes Bros! Your two are way cooler than I ever was! Thanks for the notes Kevan & Bryan you're awesome! I love you Dad, Happy Father's Day!  I love you Mom!

June 7, 2016 Stake Conference!

Hey family I'm alive and well! We had stake conference this weekend.  It was pretty cool, we got a new stake presidency. I didn't recognize any of them, but I'll send you their names next week. Craig Bench asked Elder Gallardo to translate for the conference so we got to help him with the setting up and taking down the equipment. We saw Julio there, I'll put a picture that we took on this email. Tomorrow we have our fancy meeting with Elder Bennett. We've been preparing for a really long time we are really excited. Have a great week. I love you!

June 1, 2016 Baptisms, Brazilians, transfers, and 70s, Oh My!

We had a crazy week this last week. I didn't mention this last Pday but we had a baptism lined up for Saturday. I didn't mention it because it wasn't sure, but it totally happened. It was super cool, I got to perform the ordinance and it was amazingly spiritual. Pictures were taken but they haven't found their way to my iPad yet. I promise I will send you some pictures next week of it.

Funny story about the baptism. Half of the fonts tiles broke for some reason and we got word that it would take two weeks to fix. It couldn't wait two weeks because I--- (the person who got baptized) is going back to training for the national guard this weekend until July. So we had to do it. So we got approved to do whatever we could to make it work. We ended up duct taping a rubber doormat over the broken tiles and using mostly the half of the font that wasn't messed up. When the baptism happened his head got crazy close to the wall, it was a good thing he was under water and couldn't hear the gasp...

The night of the baptism was also transfer calls. Drum roll please, I'm staying in Danbury! 4 transfers at least. Elder Gallardo is staying as well, he's awesome, I love him. The sisters in our district are staying but the Portuguese Elders got moved around quite a bit. We got roommates, their names are Elder Vieira and Elder Costa. They're both Brazilians and Elder Costa is fresh out just starting his mission. His English isn't fantastic yet, which is awesome because that means we get to help him learn English while we learn Portuguese! In other news Elder Sanford, the lone gringo out of all the Portuguese speakers, is coming back to Danbury after being a zone leader in Westchester then South Manhattan. We had a few other changes in the zone, but not a ton that affects me a whole lot.

On Sunday we are having stake conference. Elder Bennett from the 70 is coming to call a new stake presidency. Then he's going to stick around for the week and tour the mission. He's doing 4 special zone conferences capped off by an MLC. Our special Meeting is next Wednesday which means that our Pday is next Tuesday. So expect my email on Tuesday not Wednesday next week. Then we have MLC on Friday. Before our meeting on Wednesday he's having a short "leadership meeting" with the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders from the zones that will be attending that day, so I get to be in a meeting with <15 people with a 70! I'm super excited!

Have a great week! Thanks for the stories and the updates about people! Tell Elder Gallego I say Hi! I didn't get to see him before he left :'(.  He's awesome. Love You!

Con Amor,
Elder Sam McBride
